Y’allgrass

Y’allgrass is the personal blog of Todd Wickersty, blending insights from founding Storyware, LoyalBrew, and the Charlottesville Ale Trail with personal archives largely focused on what I love to do and follow: music, travel, golf, photography, tech, craft beverages, baseball, and college football.

About Me

I’m Todd, founder and owner of Storyware, a digital studio that builds and supports websites and web apps for mostly organizations within higher education, nonprofits, and hospitality. I also helped create LoyalBrew and the Charlottesville Ale Trail, and continue to contribute to both.

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and now live in Charlottesville, Virginia, with my wife, three kids, and two dogs.

I moved to Virginia in 1989 to attend Virginia Tech. Since earning my Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies in 1993, I’ve worked across the music, sports, and tech industries. My early career included selecting video clips for the PGA Tour on ESPN, piloting an indoor blimp at UT-Chattanooga basketball games, and managing 15 Virginia Tech football players in the Lane Stadium press box for a season ticket telemarketing campaign. The highlight was coordinating the 1996 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships—Tiger Woods’ final collegiate event—which set attendance and ticket sales records.

Realizing the indoor blimp cost more than my salary, I shifted to business school in 1996, launching a tech-focused career. After earning my MBA in Information Technology, I worked as a consultant for Accenture before joining AOLs Interactive Marketing team just before the AOL-Time Warner merger. Following the dot-com bust, I moved to Charlottesville in 2001, leading key projects at Musictoday until 2005, including the
Grateful Dead online store migration and the launch of Musictoday’s digital download platform and online fan club business.
